Some people like to sell. Many do not. They take every No as a personal rejection. Is it because their self-esteem is so low that every slight, every negative mention feels like an arrow through their heart or is it just a convenient excuse to get out of doing something challenging. After all, you just have to keep telling yourself. “I’m not good at selling” enough times and eventually you won’t be!
Contrary to what you might think, the reasons for NOT buying from you have more to do with the customer’s mind set than with your product or service.
And at any given time the customer is thinking about these 8 powerful life forces, almost on a random basis. Do you know the 8 powerful life forces or human desires that influence us all?
Here’s what is inside of your prospects brain even before you open your mouth
- Survival, enjoyment of life, life extension
- Enjoyment of food and beverages
- Freedom from fear, pain and danger
- Sexual companionship
- Comfortable living conditions
- To be superior. To win
- Care and protection of loved ones
- Social approval
Just ask any prospect “how are you today” and probe just a little if they had a good day and you’ll hear one of these 8 thoughts. That’s your clue to let the prospect know that you can satisfy or alleviate that concern with your offer.
“Say hey”, can you make that sale now?
