Is It Hot Enough For You?

I try to get this blog out about once a week and provide insights about bowling, management, marketing, social media, service, hiring and training and other subjects relevant to your business.

But there are some things that happen in proprietor land that I just don’t understand.

Here’s one recent example. I don’t know how many proprietors’ email lists I’m on, maybe a few hundred and I’m face book friends with probably 500…or more.

I almost always check out all my posts every day and all the emails that are sent to me.  But here’s what really surprised me.

During the last month when the weather, almost all over the country, hovered in the 90’s and even went into triple digits, I checked and even double checked my social media inboxes, emails, face book and Instagram accounts often.

Guess what I found?

Only 5 proprietors encouraged their base to come into the center and get out of the heat and cool off.  FIVE?

The message is pretty simple. “Come in and bowl, get some cool beverages, listen to music, make memories, bring the family, play video games and have some cool fun.”  You can support this message with graphics too. Ice cubes melting or sun beating down on sweaty people – anything to support the message – “Be cool and stay cool in our bowling center.”

There are lots of these types of opportunities to write about. If you check your calendars you will see that there are many different days, over the course of the year, designated such as National Bowling Day, National Pet Day, National Take Your Kid to Work Day; and many others that you can use to encourage people to come into your center, You can communicate a message, present an offer and give people a funny reason or a serious reason (I.e. November is BVL Month in America) to visit your center.

Calendar, anyone?
