After Five Decades, Norm Brumberg Still Loves Bowling

Norman Brumberg loves the business of bowling and marketing. As the owner of four bowling centers totaling 136 lanes (three Thunderbird centers in PA and Holly Bowl in NJ), Norm has seen it all. He entered the business 42 years ago when his father-in-law built the first clear span bowling center in Philadelphia. Norm sold that 16-lane Thunderbird center to his nephew two years ago.
“The biggest changes I have seen in bowling are pinsetters, automatic scoring, the loss of league play and the growth of open play,” Norm remarked.

Norm is also a rfirm believer in marketing. “I have always done marketing since day one,” he commented. Norm stated that the basics are still the same – “Give great customer service, know your bowlers and take care fo the leagues.”

Kaploe Marketing has been working with Norm and his team for several years and the nature of the business has cause Norm to do more marketing. “I know marketing but Kaploe straightens us out and Fred is outstanding at teaching our employees,” Norm said. “My employees benefit from Kaploe and the feel I am doing something for them.

During his career, Norm has managed to enjoy a wonderful family life. His wife Elaine and he have enjoyed 28 years of marriage, raising four children and enjoying seven grand children.

Bowling has been a joy to Norm. “I enjoy being with people and I make money in this business,” stated Norm. He has also succeeded in a dynamic industry. “I change and adjust with the market,” claimed Norm. “You have to work this business.”
