The Choices We Make

If you do half assed work and put out just an ok product, a few people –  who are always looking for the cheapest deal – will get on board and agree saying, “It’s OK, let’s try it but we don’t expect very much. Most won’t even try and say” That’s really shoddy, let’s keep going.”

If you do pretty good work, some people will notice and say,”It looks pretty good, but I think we can get a better deal somewhere else. Let’s keep looking.”

If you do very good work, more people will look at it and say, “Hey that’s looks very good, but maybe, just maybe, there is something better out there. Let’s look just one more time.”

But if you do your very best work and put out the best work you know how, lots and lots of people will say, “Gee that is great stuff, and it’s priced fairly; no need to look any more. We found it.”

Doing your best work every time is hard. Damn hard.

In fact it is very hard to consistently do your best work. It will take blood, sweat and maybe some tears, but when you are done, you will be proud of what you have. You will have also created value. Real value, which is what customers most definitely want.

If you think they want cheap, do not pass “GO.” Move 3 spaces back.” Want more proof?

Go find me a Woolworth, or a Kresge or a Montgomery Wards or a Korvettes, all gone long before Amazon was born.

Often it’s a whole lot easier to do your best work than to do it half assed, because even though “half assed” may appear to be easier, the results you get won’t be worth the time or effort it took to do it.

Can you afford to do anything else other than your best?
Just sayin’
